Tasting Notes:
The Merlot from our estate vineyard is more robust in style than most people expect. It is planted in the lowest section of
our vineyard where the soil is the deepest due to the erosion from the rest of our hillside vineyard. Although we employ a
deficit irrigation philosophy (cutting back water during the growing season) in our vineyard, the Merlot vineyard is the benefactor of the run-off of water when it does rain
and the rain is able to soak deep into our shale soils. This encourages the roots to dig deep for water which gives the vines more character. This merlot pairs very well with heavier foods. It also pairs well with a warm fire!
Blend: 75% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc
Aging: 24 months in 25% new French oak, and 75% in neutral French oak
Enjoy: 2023 - 2030 (optimal 2026)
